Battling High Bacteria and/or Plate Counts?
We have had two customers in 2010 and 2011 with wildly fluctuating but persistently high plate counts due to 'Dirty Equipment'. In one case the battle lasted for 18 months, in another almost four months.

One was degraded to Grade B.

Easy to imagine the frustration - perfoming every imaginable task you do when you can't get the counts down.

In the end Pfizer Spectramast dry count treatment was determined to be the culprit. It builds up a very thin film on the equipment surfaces that regular pipe line detergent can not remove. This film builds up over time, harbering the bugs and there you are.

Meanwhile, even after you have found the cause - and removed it with special cleaning agents, more cows are coming fresh adding more Spectramast residue to the equipment surfaces.

Obvious solution - discontinue use. If you read this in late 2011/early 2012, Pfizer appears to be aware of the problem and has a 'Special Sale' on to clear out inventory of the stuff. Don't even think about it!

Open Message to Ian Read, Pfizer CEO/Chairman of the Board

Dear Ian,

Cut the crap and cut the sale! Not fair for those of us who have to live with your problems. Since the equipment is dirty, the equipment people get blamed, That's us.Wish we could bill you for the uncountable phone calls, time spent tearing equipment apart again and again, replacing one type of equipment with a different type at our expense (in one case), not to mention the general loss of good will.

Pushing a product with known problems on your unsuspecting customers has a bit of a smell to it, wouldn't you agree?

Yours Truly,
Rolf Reisgies,
